About the Event

A rights-based approach to Extended Education

Laura Lundy and Kylie Smith have worked together for many years exploring ways to implement child human rights in research, policy and practice internationally and within their local context. Laura’s work has explored policy and education and intersects with Kylie’s work in early childhood and out of school hours curriculum and practice. In this keynote they will discuss a rights-based approach to Extended Education. Framed around a ‘fireside chat’ Laura and Kylie will respond to five key questions:

1. Why is this a human rights issue?

2. How can we make sure children are involved in meaningful decision making?

3. What is the significance to the International context?

4. How can we apply this to Extended Education?

5. What are the common misconceptions?
