About the Event
Supervision is one of the key functions an educator uses to ensure the safety and wellbeing of children. However, supervision isn't as simple as observing children's play, educators must be both diligent and skilful in responding to children's diverse needs, interests and choices as they deliver quality education and care. Complementing effective supervision are the practices of interacting and building relationships with children. OSHC educators build safe and secure environments through a range of techniques and skills.
The learning outcomes of this course are intended to develop educator's knowledge and skills enabling them to:
- Develop a strong understanding of effective supervision and health and safety in OSHC.
- Describe effective techniques for providing adequate supervision in an OSHC service.
- Understand the expectations for supervising while interacting with children and delivering the program.
- Understand the concept of duty of care, as applied in the OSHC context.
