About the Event
Supporting Wellbeing and Behaviour: Understanding Emotional Intelligence
Children’s behaviour makes sense when we understand what’s happening underneath.
This practical professional learning session explores connection and emotional intelligence as the foundation for wellbeing, behaviour guidance and positive relationships in OSHC settings.
Grounded in neuroscience and everyday OSHC practice, this session supports educators to respond to children’s big and small issues through building their emotional vocabularies and supporting them to manage their own emotions and behaviour.
Practical and interactive, this session is good for a team to understand how to respond to children with big feelings…. and small. Includes resources to take back to your service.
The session will cover:
o The neuroscience and how connection affects the developing brain
o What happens when connection breaks and how to help children reconnect
o What emotional intelligence is — and why it matters
o Developing your own emotional intelligence as an educator or leader
o Assisting children to understand and verbalise their emotions
o Practical strategies to help children manage anger and big emotions
